Viking River Cruise — Next Day —- KALOCSA HUNGARY
Before we start with next Day , Let me show the physical Map of our journey:- So The map shows our Viking Journey. It starts from Budapest ,on Danube River & ends at Bucharest ,Romania .
After enjoying a nice night sleep , we had reached a new place in Hungry— named KALOCSA
It is a town in Bacs- Kiscun county , Hungary . Set six miles inland from the eastern shore of Danube, it is one of the oldest towns of Hungary . It is very rural place , people are fond of rearing & breeding horses .The county has a great tradition of horsemanship . Living outside year round , these men are very tough and extremely adept equestrians.
These people are descendants of nomadic Magyar warriors came from steppes of Asia on horseback & settled in Great Plains or Puszta of Hungary ——- Hungarian Cowboys. The most preffered breed of the horses are Nonius —- a muscular and heavy boned horse , usually dark in color .These horses are very well trained .These highly trained men did a spectacular show using whips in order to make the horses do various movements . Whips were used to make a sound which the horses respond .
One very trained young man handeled 8 horses & this feat was jaw dropping . This show was the climax of the evening.
We bought very bright red quality of “ peprika “ from this Puszta of Hungary . KALOCSA is one of the oldest town of Hungary . It has always maintained its rural character , is known as the “Peprika capital “
The KALOCSA Karoly Vicky Museum is known for its art & artifacts of Serbian,Slovak & Magyar peasants . Here we saw collections of textiles , decorative arts which show the artistry of
“ Writing Women “ — who had paint every imaginable place, —— including walls—- with vividly colorful flowers, vines, patterns and symbols.
We also visited KALOCSA Archbishop’s Palace .
By the evening we got tired so came back to our boat , had dinner ,some entertainment & retired for the day .
